The Adalaj Ni Vav in Gandhinagar, one of Gujarat’s most exquisite stepwells, will come alive on November 23 with the 16th edition of the iconic Water Festival. Sponsored by Gujarat Tourism and co-sponsored by the Adani Group, this year’s celebration promises to merge heritage, art, and sound into a mesmerizing night of music and culture.

Organised by Crraft of Art, the festival honours India’s architectural marvels while presenting a world-class lineup of classical and folk musicians. “Completing 16 years is a deeply meaningful milestone for us. The Water Festival remains a tribute to India’s extraordinary architectural heritage, and Adalaj Ni Vav continues to inspire us year after year,” said Birwa Qureshi, founder of Crraft of Art.

This year’s lineup includes some of India’s most acclaimed performers — Ustad Fazal Qureshi on tabla, Ambi Subramaniam on violin, Stephen Devassy on keyboard, Mir Mukhtiyar Ali performing Kabir Vani, Giridhar Udupa on ghatam, Arun Kumar on drums, Navin Sharma on dholak, Prithvi Samuel on bass, and Ilyas Khan on sarangi.

For the first time, the event will also feature a Kathakali performance by the renowned Kathakali School from Kerala, offering a glimpse into the country’s diverse classical traditions. The evening will be hosted by actor and presenter Suchitra Pillai, adding charm and warmth to the event’s atmosphere.

Known for its free entry and inclusive spirit, the Water Festival invites attendees to register in advance for access. Over the years, it has evolved into one of Gujarat’s most anticipated cultural celebrations — one that blends the serenity of heritage with the power of live music.
