1. Abbey Falls

During the monsoon, Abbey Falls becomes a powerful sight. Located near Madikeri, the falls gush with newfound energy as the rain feeds the stream above. The short trek through coffee estates and dense greenery leads you to a hanging bridge that offers a postcard perfect view. The sound of the cascading water echoes through the valley, and the surrounding forest looks more vivid than ever.

2. Raja’s Seat

source

A favourite viewpoint in Madikeri, Raja’s Seat is a spot that holds more than just scenic charm. In the rainy season, clouds float low over the valley, and the gardens bloom with refreshed colours. The rains bring a chill in the air that pairs perfectly with a cup of local filter coffee. Whether you visit at dawn or during the golden hours of twilight, the views offer a sense of calm that stays with you long after you leave.

3. Mandalpatti

source

This remote viewpoint is known for its off road access and panoramic scenery. Reaching Mandalpatti involves a thrilling jeep ride through forest paths that become even more adventurous when it rains. At the top, you are greeted with layers of rolling hills draped in mist and green blankets. Monsoon mornings here are a spectacle, especially if you catch the sunrise as it breaks through the fog. The silence, broken only by wind and drizzle, adds a kind of magic you cannot replicate.

4. Iruppu Falls

source

Located close to the Brahmagiri Wildlife Sanctuary, Iruppu Falls becomes a sacred spectacle during monsoon. The waterfall, surrounded by thick forests, plunges from a height of 170 feet with a roar that feels almost divine. The short trail through the woods is full of life during the rains, with wet leaves, chirping birds, and the scent of the earth creating a perfect setting for introspection and connection with nature.

5. Dubare Elephant Camp

For an experience that combines wildlife and rain soaked adventure, Dubare Elephant Camp is a must. Situated along the Cauvery River, the camp offers visitors a chance to interact with elephants up close. You can feed, bathe, or simply watch them enjoy the rain. The river, swollen during monsoon, adds to the jungle like vibe of the camp. It feels like stepping into a real life nature documentary where both humans and animals embrace the rhythm of rain.

6. Talacauvery

source

Talacauvery is considered the source of the sacred Cauvery River. It sits atop a hill, and during monsoon, the entire region takes on an ethereal feel. The temple complex is often wrapped in clouds, and the quiet murmur of flowing water blends beautifully with the distant chants from the shrine. Visitors often make a stop at Bhagamandala nearby, where the river merges with two other sacred streams. The entire experience feels timeless and peaceful.

7. Coffee Plantations

Coorg is famous for its coffee estates, and the monsoon brings out their most romantic side. Stay at a plantation homestay to truly experience this. As the rain taps gently on the leaves, the air fills with the scent of fresh beans and wet soil. Guided walks through the plantations offer insight into coffee cultivation while doubling as a form of rain soaked therapy for the mind. Every step through these green corridors feels like walking through a living poem.

8. Honnamana Kere

source

This is the largest lake in Coorg and one of its quietest corners. Surrounded by hills and forest, the lake takes on a magical character during the rainy season. The reflections of moving clouds on its surface, the sound of raindrops hitting the water, and the complete lack of crowds make it a haven for those who love solitude. Local legends say the lake is named after a woman who gave her life for her people, adding emotional weight to its beauty.
