The Professional Association of Diving Instructors (PADI) has signed an MoU with the Adventure Tour Operators Association of India (ATOAI) to promote safe and sustainable diving tourism across India.
This partnership aims to enhance training quality, operational safety, and marine conservation, positioning India as a top global diving destination.
Raising Global Standards in Indian Waters
With over six decades of experience, PADI brings internationally recognized diver training expertise, while ATOAI contributes its network of adventure tour operators and government links.
Together, they will harmonize Indian diving standards with ISO global norms and promote responsible adventure tourism.
Thomas Knedlik, Vice President, PADI Asia Pacific, said:
“This collaboration will showcase India as a world-class diving destination, strengthen diver education, and protect marine ecosystems.”
Sustainability at the Core
Beyond training, the partnership includes community-led conservation programs, such as underwater and coastal clean-ups and reef protection initiatives.
Ajeet Bajaj, President of ATOAI, emphasized:
“We’re building a responsible adventure ecosystem that highlights India’s natural wealth while safeguarding it for the future.”
Driving Employment and Awareness
The partnership will boost local employment in coastal communities, increase international visibility for India’s dive sites, and create new opportunities for certified instructors and guides.
By aligning safety, education, and sustainability, the PADI–ATOAI alliance represents a crucial step toward positioning India among the world’s most trusted adventure destinations.
