With thousands of devotees flying in every day, the opportunity to create a spiritually immersive welcome experience has been long overdue.
The proposal aims to redesign the airport’s architecture to align with the majestic design of the Tirumala temple. Facades are expected to showcase intricate carvings, and aesthetic elements will be inspired by traditional South Indian temple design. Sculptures, motifs, and visual storytelling will become part of the terminal’s structure, allowing visitors to feel spiritually connected even before beginning their climb toward the temple.
Alongside the airport upgrade, the Alipiri arch a symbolic gateway marking the start of the pilgrimage to Tirumala will also be redesigned to reflect the grandeur and sanctity of the region. These additions will include resting zones shaded from the sun, lush green patches for a calming environment, and spiritual storytelling through themed art installations. Scenes from Lord Venkateswara’s life will be portrayed along the path to offer pilgrims deeper engagement with the mythology of the region.
Interpretative panels and sacred markers will also be added to guide devotees through the stories and legends that make Tirumala one of the most sacred places in India.
