Travel in Telangana is about to take an exciting new turn. Tourists will soon be able to swap long road trips for helicopter rides as the state launches its heli tourism project. The new service will connect Hyderabad to the temple town of Srisailam and further to Somasila, giving passengers a bird’s eye view of the lush Nallamala forests, the mighty Srisailam dam and the winding Krishna river.\

Announcing the initiative, Tourism Minister Jupally Krishna Rao revealed that the government has partnered with EaseMyTrip to manage bookings and logistics. The aim is to make heli tourism not just a luxury experience but an accessible option for travellers who want to save time and explore Telangana in a unique way.

The launch is part of a larger investment of more than 68 crore rupees in tourism projects across Somasila, Nalamma, Amaragiri Island and Eegalapenta. The most ambitious among them is a wellness and spiritual retreat on Amaragiri Island, developed at a cost of over 45 crore rupees. Designed as a space where eco tourism meets spirituality, the retreat will offer both comfort and serenity. At Somasila, boating facilities and a new VIP ghat are being created to enhance visitor experiences.

Officials believe that this combination of helicopter rides, retreats and spiritual circuits will reshape the identity of Telangana as a tourism hub. For a long time, areas like Somasila and Amaragiri remained under the radar despite their natural and cultural richness. With these developments, they are now expected to attract a steady flow of visitors, creating new opportunities for local communities in hospitality, transport and adventure activities.

The state government hopes that this fresh approach will position Telangana as more than just a land of heritage monuments and temples. Travellers will soon be able to experience a blend of adventure, spirituality and modern comfort within the same itinerary, making Telangana a destination in its own right rather than just a stopover.
