In a move to enhance border tourism, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Jammu Smart City, Rahul Yadav, has initiated an electric bus service from Jammu to Suchetgarh border. The aim is to provide an eco-friendly transit option for both locals and tourists.

The electric bus will operate four days a week - Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday. Departing from Jammu bus stand at approximately 2:30 PM, it will journey towards Suchetgarh border for sightseeing. After the conclusion of the retreat ceremony at Octroi Post, Suchetgarh, the bus will return to its starting point.

This launch coincides with the Border Security Force (BSF) extending the beating retreat ceremony at Border Outpost Octroi near the International Border in Suchetgarh to four days a week. The ceremony, akin to the Wagah-Attari style, features a structured parade by BSF men and has become a major attraction for visitors since its inception in October 2021.

The introduction of the electric bus service aligns with efforts towards sustainable transportation in the region. Notably, Union Home Minister Amit Shah had earlier launched fully air-conditioned electric buses for Jammu, with Tata Motors supplying, operating, and maintaining 100 electric buses in the city for 12 years. These buses have garnered a positive response from the public since their introduction, contributing to the vision of cleaner and greener urban mobility.

This initiative marks a significant step forward in promoting tourism along the border, offering a convenient and environmentally friendly mode of transportation for travelers exploring the scenic beauty and cultural heritage of the Jammu-Suchetgarh route.
