Visiting Assam? Good news! Assam's tourism department is making things safer for tourists with a new plan called 'tourist police'. This is to ensure that when you visit Assam, you feel safe and secure.

Why are they doing this? Well, after Covid, more and more people are visiting Assam. With more visitors, it's important to make sure everyone stays safe. So, the government passed a new law called the Assam Tourism (Development and Registration) Bill, 2024. This law includes the tourist police plan.

What does this mean for you? It means that there will be special police just for tourists. They will be there to help you if you need anything or if you're in trouble. They'll also make sure that places tourists visit are safe.

The government is still working out the details, but every place where tourists stay will have to register with the tourism department. This will help keep track of where tourists are and make sure they're okay.

Other states in India already have tourist police, like Andhra Pradesh, Goa, and Kerala. Now, Assam is joining them to keep tourists safe.

This idea of tourist police started in 2022 when the government told all states in India to have them. It's a big effort involving different parts of the government to make sure tourists are safe wherever they go in India.
