The Indian Hotels Company Limited, the hospitality group behind iconic names like Taj, Vivanta, and Ginger, has announced a major expansion that will reshape the Indian travel and stay experience. Through strategic agreements with ANK Hotels, Pride Hospitality, and Brij Hotels, IHCL has added more than 150 hotels across the country, pushing its global portfolio to over 550 properties and nearly 55,000 rooms.

This growth comes with a clear vision  to strengthen its presence in the midscale segment while also tapping into India’s growing appetite for unique boutique stays. ANK Hotels and Pride Hospitality bring 135 properties across 110 locations, which will soon be rebranded under IHCL. Brij Hotels, known for immersive heritage stays, adds 19 carefully curated properties in atmospheric destinations that celebrate local culture.

For travellers, the impact will be significant. Business and leisure guests visiting smaller cities will find more IHCL options with consistent service standards, while those seeking memorable holidays can look forward to character-rich boutique escapes. Many of these hotels will operate under management contracts, allowing for rapid expansion without the delays of new construction.

IHCL’s Managing Director and CEO, Puneet Chhatwal, described this as part of the company’s ‘Accelerate 2030’ strategy to match India’s rising tourism demand. With the mid-market segment seeing faster growth than luxury, this expansion is set to meet the needs of a wider spectrum of travellers. Company CFO Ankur Dalwani confirmed that the expansion is being funded through internal accruals, a testament to IHCL’s healthy financial position.

The partnership also carries emotional significance for the promoters of ANK Hotels, whose family legacy in Indian hospitality dates back to 1947. For Brij Hotels, the collaboration blends IHCL’s heritage of excellence with their own focus on immersive cultural experiences, ensuring guests enjoy both comfort and authenticity.

From the grandeur of the Taj Mahal Palace in Mumbai to the efficiency of Ginger hotels and now the cultural charm of Brij properties, IHCL’s growing network means more destinations, more styles of stay, and more opportunities to experience India through its hospitality.
