A Digital Step Forward

Delhi International Airport, managed by GMR Airports, has announced the launch of a new E Arrival Card facility for international passengers. The initiative has been developed in collaboration with the Bureau of Immigration and is part of the government’s broader Digital India vision. For years, travellers arriving in India have been required to fill out paper based arrival cards before clearing immigration. Now, with the new system, passengers can complete this process online before they arrive, making entry into the country faster, simpler and more efficient.

How The Facility Works

From October 1, passengers landing at Delhi Airport will be able to fill in their arrival details electronically. The digital platform can be accessed via the Bureau of Immigration website, the Indian Visa portal, the “Su Swagatam” mobile app, and the Delhi Airport official website. Travellers will have the option to complete the form up to three days before their scheduled arrival, allowing them to save time at immigration counters. The introduction of this facility is expected to significantly reduce waiting times, ease congestion at immigration, and enhance the overall passenger experience.

Sustainability And Efficiency

One of the major highlights of this initiative is its role in supporting sustainability. By eliminating the need for millions of paper cards each year, Delhi Airport will be able to reduce its paper usage and promote environmentally friendly practices. Officials say the change will not only save time for passengers but also streamline the work of immigration officers, improving overall operational efficiency.

Aligning With Global Standards

With the launch of this facility, Delhi Airport joins the ranks of leading global hubs like Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia and South Korea, which already use similar digital immigration systems. This upgrade further strengthens Delhi Airport’s position as a modern international gateway and enhances India’s reputation as a forward looking travel destination.

Building On Recent Innovations

The E Arrival Card comes just over a year after Delhi Airport introduced India’s first Fast Track Immigration Trusted Traveller Programme in June 2024. Together, these digital upgrades reflect a new era of convenience, speed and security for travellers. According to Videh Kumar Jaipuriar, CEO of Delhi International Airport, the initiative is a step towards making travel smoother, world class and sustainable for international visitors.

A Seamless Arrival Experience

For travellers, this means fewer forms, faster lines and a smoother arrival experience in India’s capital. Whether visiting for tourism, business, or family reasons, international passengers can now look forward to a system that puts efficiency and convenience first while also contributing to a greener airport environment.
