Amaravati, Kurnool, and Visakhapatnam
In 2015, the government led by Chandrababu Naidu named Amaravati as the new capital, but this decision faced political controversy. Later, the YSRCP government under YS Jagan Mohan Reddy proposed three capitals to address regional demands:
- Amaravati: Legislative Capital
- Kurnool: Judicial Capital
- Visakhapatnam: Executive Capital
Current Situation
The Andhra Pradesh government still uses three buildings in Hyderabad: the Lake View guesthouse, the police building in Lakdi Ka Pul, and the Hermitage Building in Adarsh Nagar. Telangana's Chief Minister, K. Chandrashekar Rao, instructed officials to reclaim these buildings. Andhra Pradesh has asked to rent or lease them, but no decision has been made due to the election code.
Visakhapatnam: The Executive Capital
YS Jagan Mohan Reddy proposed Visakhapatnam, or Vizag, as the executive capital. Vizag offers many attractions:
- Beaches: Ramakrishna Beach, Rishikonda Beach, and Bheemunipatnam Beach are popular for relaxation and water activities.
- Hill Stations: Araku Valley, known for its coffee plantations and waterfalls, and Ananthagiri Hills, famous for trekking.
- Historical Sites: Kailasagiri, Simhachalam Temple, and Buddhist sites like Thotlakonda and Bavikonda.
- Museums and Parks: The INS Kurusura Submarine Museum and Visakha Museum showcase the city's maritime heritage.
