The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation is back with another spiritually immersive experience, and this time it is the fifth edition of the Shri Ramayana Yatra. Scheduled to depart from Delhi Safdarjung Railway Station on July 25, this religious rail journey will span 17 days, covering more than 30 destinations that are deeply connected with the life and legacy of Lord Ram.
What makes this yatra unique is not only the route it follows but the way it is being delivered. Pilgrims will travel in comfort and style aboard the Bharat Gaurav Deluxe AC Tourist Train, which has been specially outfitted to provide a premium travel experience. This luxurious train will take passengers across sacred destinations such as Ayodhya, Nandigram, Sitamarhi, Janakpur in Nepal, Buxar, Varanasi, Prayagraj, Chitrakoot, Nashik, Hampi, and Rameshwaram before finally returning to Delhi.
The train itself is a major attraction. It offers air-conditioned classes including AC First, AC 2-Tier, and AC 3-Tier. Each coach is equipped with a modern kitchen, shower cubicles, sensor-based restrooms, and even foot massagers. Adding to the comfort and security are CCTV surveillance, tour managers, and dedicated security personnel in every coach. These features ensure that passengers can enjoy their pilgrimage with peace of mind.
The journey is designed as a fully inclusive tour package. That means travelers do not need to worry about food, hotels, or transport once on the tour. The package includes AC rail travel, three-star hotel stays for stopovers, road transfers to local attractions, vegetarian meals, guided sightseeing, and travel insurance. Tour managers will accompany the group to manage logistics and support the passengers throughout the trip.
The Shri Ramayana Yatra is also tailored to be inclusive for senior citizens and pilgrims with different budget preferences. IRCTC has ensured flexibility by offering a part-payment option where bookings can be secured by paying just 25 percent of the total package price. The ticket pricing ranges from INR 1,17,975 for 3AC to INR 1,79,515 for the 1AC Coupe. Bookings can be made online through the official IRCTC website or through authorized travel agents.
This latest edition of the yatra comes at a time when faith-based tourism in India is growing steadily. Following the grand inauguration of the Ram Janmabhoomi temple in Ayodhya in early 2024, interest in Lord Ram’s journey has surged among devotees across the country. The Ramayana Yatra train taps into this renewed cultural interest and allows people to trace the steps of Lord Ram in a way that is both immersive and deeply meaningful.
With carefully curated stops and a smooth travel experience, the Shri Ramayana Yatra serves as more than just a pilgrimage. It becomes a spiritual retreat for the body and mind, offering a rare opportunity to walk through history, mythology, and faith while being surrounded by fellow seekers of devotion.
If you have ever wished to visit the sacred lands tied to the Ramayana without the hassles of planning every detail, this train tour offers a rare chance to do it all in one journey.
