Weather Conditions Expected

The UAE’s meteorological agency has forecasted strong winds that could reach speeds of up to 40 km/h, particularly affecting the western areas on Wednesday. These conditions are expected to reduce visibility significantly, sometimes below 2000 meters, and could last until early Thursday. The weather might cause sudden changes, potentially disrupting travel plans.

Advice for Travelers

Emirates Airlines advises travellers due to fly on Thursday, May 2, to arrive at the airport earlier than usual to accommodate possible road delays. Similarly, Flydubai recommends passengers allow extra time to travel to the airport, regardless of their transportation method.

Recent Weather Patterns

Although the current weather has been less severe than anticipated, there have been recent instances of significant disruptions. Just last week, unusual weather patterns brought rain and minor hail to several areas, echoing disruptions from the heaviest rainfall seen in 75 years, which occurred between April 16 and April 23.

Airports' Strategic Responses

Both DXB and DWC have been integral to handling the vast number of international passengers each year. With DXB maintaining its status as the world’s busiest airport for international travel and DWC expanding its capacity, Dubai continues to enhance its infrastructure to manage the increasing traveller demand effectively.

Future Developments

In response to ongoing growth, Dubai has announced a major $35 billion project to relocate its main international airport within the next decade. This ambitious plan aims to support the rising demand for international travel and strengthen Dubai’s position as a global aviation hub.
