In a major step toward strengthening international ties and boosting tourism, India and the Philippines have rolled out a set of travel-friendly changes that are set to transform how citizens of both countries explore each other’s cultures. Indian travellers can now enjoy visa-free entry into the Philippines, while Filipino tourists will be granted free e-visas when visiting India. This new policy is part of a larger strategic partnership that reflects 75 years of strong diplomatic relations between the two nations.

The announcement came after a high-level meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. in New Delhi. As part of this renewed relationship, both countries agreed that making travel easier would help deepen their people-to-people ties and open doors for tourism, business, and cultural exchange.

The changes are also supported by a major aviation boost. Air India has confirmed that starting October 1, 2025, it will begin operating direct flights between Delhi and Manila. The airline will run five flights a week on its modern Airbus A321neo fleet. With a comfortable three-class cabin including Business, Premium Economy, and Economy, the new route is expected to benefit both leisure seekers and business travellers.

For Indian tourists, the Philippines is now easier to access than ever. Known for its crystal-clear beaches, underwater adventures, and historic sites, the country is rapidly gaining popularity among Indian travellers. Visa-free entry removes a key barrier and makes planning trips simpler and quicker. On the other hand, Filipino travellers interested in visiting India for tourism, education, or even spiritual reasons can now apply for free e-visas, further encouraging cross-border visits.

The direct flights are more than just a convenience. They symbolize a new era of cooperation and accessibility, making it easier for families, students, and professionals to connect. The route is expected to support increasing demand for air travel between South Asia and Southeast Asia, and could also open the door for future partnerships in trade and education.

To mark the occasion, the two leaders unveiled a commemorative postage stamp celebrating 75 years of India–Philippines diplomatic relations. It is a strong gesture of shared history and shared goals.

With this fresh chapter in international relations, travellers from both countries have a lot to look forward to. Simpler visa rules, more connectivity, and a clear commitment to cultural and economic exchange make this one of the most exciting developments for Indian and Filipino tourists in recent years.
