In anticipation of the massive travel rush during Diwali and Chhath Puja, Air India and Air India Express have unveiled a major festive expansion plan for Patna. Together, the two airlines will operate 166 additional weekly flights between October 15 and November 3, 2025, significantly improving connectivity for passengers flying to and from Bihar’s capital.
Boosting Festive Connectivity
Air India will operate 38 additional flights each between Patna and three major metros — Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru — adding up to 114 extra services during the festive window. Complementing this, Air India Express will run 26 additional flights each between Delhi and Patna and Bengaluru and Patna, contributing another 52 flights between October 22 and November 3.
These new services come in addition to Air India’s 42 weekly flights and Air India Express’s 14 weekly flights from key hubs, taking total capacity to new highs. The enhanced schedule aims to provide travelers with greater flexibility, shorter wait times, and improved access during one of India’s busiest travel seasons.

The timing of the expansion could not be better. With a surge in travelers heading home for Diwali celebrations and Chhath Puja rituals, flight demand across North India has seen a sharp rise. The new flights will help reduce congestion and make it easier for passengers visiting family or returning to Bihar for the holidays.
The airlines have also ensured that the new schedule provides smooth onward connections via Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru — enabling travelers from Patna to seamlessly reach destinations across India and abroad, including the Middle East and Europe.
