Pokhara, nestled in Nepal's stunning Gandaki province, has been officially declared the country's prime tourism destination. This exciting announcement came during a special gathering at Barahi Ghat, by the serene Phewa Lake.

 

Although Pokhara has always been a hotspot for tourists, it's now been formally recognised as the tourism capital after meeting certain requirements. This recognition is a major achievement for Pokhara, highlighting its importance as a leading tourism hub.

 

Mayor Dhanaraj Acharya believes this declaration will greatly boost Pokhara's global reputation. It not only acknowledges the city's existing charm but also opens doors for further growth and promotion to attract travellers worldwide.

 

In addition to this recognition, starting Sunday, businesses like clubs and live music venues in Pokhara can operate round the clock. These extended opening hours offer more opportunities for entertainment and leisure.

 

Chief Minister Surendra Raj Pandey of Gandaki Province announced that certain establishments in key areas of Pokhara, including Lakeside, Prithvi Chowk, Mahendrapul, and Chipledhunga, can stay open until 1 a.m. They must, however, adhere to specified standards.
