The Uttar Pradesh Government is contemplating longer hours for bars in Noida and Ghaziabad to enhance the area's tourism appeal. A committee of five members is reviewing whether bars can stay open until 4 AM, a significant extension from the current 1 AM closing time.

Advocacy and Comparisons

During discussions with the excise department, local restaurant owners argued for these extended hours, suggesting that Noida should align with the vibrant nightlife of nearby cities like Delhi and Gurgaon. They believe that later closing times will serve those off work late and prevent the need to travel to other cities for night entertainment.

Economic and Safety Considerations

The committee explores how these changes might increase government revenue through additional excise activities while being mindful of law and order concerns. They are also considering similar extensions for Ghaziabad.

Supporting Infrastructure

To complement these extended hours, there's a plan to issue new licenses for eateries in IT parks, especially with the upcoming opening of the Noida airport, which is expected to boost local nightlife further. A proposal for a unified licensing portal is also underway to simplify business processes.
