The Indian embassy in the UAE has issued a travel advisory for Indian citizens heading to or via Dubai International Airport, recommending they delay their travel until conditions stabilize. This guidance comes in the wake of record-breaking rainfall in Dubai this week, causing extensive flooding and disruption.

The advisory specifically suggests postponing non-essential travel until airport operations return to normal. The Consulate General of India in Dubai has activated emergency helpline numbers available since April 17th to support Indian nationals at the airport.

Dubai International Airport has had to limit incoming flights temporarily due to the severe weather conditions, with hopes of resuming normal operations within the next 24 hours.

Indian Consulate Provides Assistance through Helpline Numbers

In response to the crisis, the Indian Consulate has issued several helpline numbers to assist Indians affected by the extreme weather in Dubai and the Northern Emirates. Following the unprecedented weather event, which brought 142 millimeters (5.59 inches) of rain by Tuesday, the consulate has been actively coordinating with UAE authorities and airlines to aid stranded passengers.

Helpline numbers have been made available as many Indians find themselves unable to leave the airport, and vehicle owners are forced to abandon their cars due to rising water levels. The consulate, in collaboration with local Indian community organizations, continues to update and extend relief measures to those impacted.
