Helicopter Tours Launched for Adi Kailash and Om Parvat Pilgrimage in Uttarakhand

Great news for adventurers and pilgrims! The journey to the majestic Adi Kailash and Om Parvat peaks in Uttarakhand has been made easier and faster with the introduction of helicopter services from Naini Saini Airport. This initiative is part of the Uttarakhand government's Heli Darshan program, aimed at enhancing tourism in the region.

Ashish Mishra, Joint Magistrate, inaugurated the helicopter service, utilizing an Mi-19 helicopter for transporting pilgrims to the serene Vyas Valley, offering an aerial view of Adi Kailash and Om Parvat.

This initiative marks a significant development in promoting Hindu pilgrimage tourism. The Uttarakhand Tourism Development Board anticipates that the helicopter services will facilitate year-round visits to these holy sites, making them accessible despite the seasonal and geographical hurdles that previously hindered pilgrimages.

The service's inaugural journey transported more than 10 pilgrims, signifying an important achievement in making these sacred sites more accessible. Adi Kailash, revered as Lord Shiva and Parvati's abode, and the naturally Om-shaped Om Parvat, straddling the India-Nepal-Tibet border, have long been pilgrimage destinations.

Previously, reaching Om Parvat required a challenging 11-kilometer trek from Nabhidang. However, with the helicopter service, which is set to operate five days a week following a successful trial run, access will be significantly easier.

The Joint Magistrate commended the initiative for its role in highlighting the Adi Kailash region, especially following Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit in October, which increased its popularity.

The service aims to provide devotees with a one-day aerial darshan of both sacred sites, offering a unique spiritual journey. From April 15th to May 1st, 2024, and then from November to March, a special five-day helicopter pilgrimage will be available, offering stunning views and a comfortable journey, transforming the pilgrimage experience.
