Over 650 pilgrims were stopped from continuing their journey to Badrinath because they did not have the required registration. This step is part of efforts to manage the number of visitors to Char Dham and avoid problems seen earlier in the season.
Registration Checkpoint
At the Gauchar checkpoint, officials reported that more than 650 unregistered pilgrims and 120 vehicles were denied entry. The Chamoli SSP office stated that five vehicle operators were fined for bringing unregistered pilgrims to the holy site.
Importance of Registration
Authorities stress the need for mandatory registration to prevent such issues. The registration system is enforced to ensure smooth and organized pilgrimages. Pilgrims are urged to register online at https://registrationandtouristcare.uk.gov.in and plan their visit according to the registered date.
Managing Crowds
The mandatory registration system helps manage the large number of visitors, preventing overcrowding and ensuring a safer experience. Around 20,000 pilgrims visit Badrinath every day.
Ban on VIP Darshan
To handle the growing number of pilgrims, the Uttarakhand government has extended the ban on "VIP Darshan" until May 31, 2024. This move, announced by Uttarakhand Chief Secretary Radha Raturi, aims to improve crowd control during the busy yatra season.
Continuous Monitoring
Officials are continually monitoring the pilgrimage season and adjusting their strategies to handle the large number of devotees. Mandatory registration is a key part of these efforts, ensuring a safer and more organized pilgrimage.
