In the town of Pali, Rajasthan, a unique temple is being built in the shape of the sacred symbol 'Om'. It's going to be the world's first temple designed like this. This special temple will not only be a tourist attraction but will also be so big that it can be seen from space!
The temple called the 'Om Aakar' temple, is being built in Jadan village, Pali district. It's a huge project that started almost 30 years ago. Many people, around 400, are working hard to make it happen. They started building it in 1995 and hope to finish by 202324.
Swami Maheshwaranand Maharaj, a respected figure among devotees, praised the temple as a remarkable architectural achievement. He said it's the first temple in the world to be shaped like the sacred Om symbol.
One amazing thing about this temple is that it will have space for 1,008 idols of Lord Mahadev and 12 Jyotirlingas. It will be 135 feet tall and supported by 2,000 pillars. There will also be 108 rooms inside. The most important part of the temple complex is the tomb of Guru Madhavanand ji.
At the top of the temple, there will be a special place for a shivlinga, made from a precious rhinestone. Underneath the temple, there will be a huge tank that can hold 2 lakh tonnes of water.
The person behind this big project is Vishwa Guru Maha Mandleshwar Paramahansa Swami Maheswara Nanda Puriji Maharaj, the founder of the Om Ashram. In Hinduism, the Om mantra is very important, and this temple is a way to honour it.
If you want to visit this incredible temple, Jadan village is along National Highway 62, about 71 km from Jodhpur airport. You can also take a train from Delhi to Ahmedabad and get off at Marwar Junction to reach the temple easily.
The temple's design is inspired by the Nagara style found in North India, with the Om symbol extending over a large area. This design celebrates the rich culture and architecture of the region.
