The Floating Glass Museum, created by Luca Curci Architects, combines traditional glass craftsmanship with modern sustainability practices. This museum aims to enhance awareness of climate change through its artistic expressions.
Conveying Climate Awareness Through Glass
Set in Italy, this project uses Venetian glass to tell a story about environmental protection. Luca Curci Architects, in collaboration with Giulia Tassi Design and a global team of designers, crafted this museum. Their work integrates historical glassmaking techniques with contemporary design, supported by artificial intelligence.
Architectural Design
The museum's exterior features a range of glass colours, mimicking the appearance of rolling hills. Inside the 3,800-square-foot space, visitors will find an array of glass art installations, paintings, and stylish mid-century furniture, all curated to encourage contemplation and discussion on climate change.
Global Journey
Scheduled for completion this year, the museum will float to major cities worldwide like Singapore, Dubai, Hong Kong, New York, and Busan. Each location is chosen for its relevance to ongoing climate challenges, particularly rising sea levels.
Impact of Climate Change on Our World
The museum’s theme draws attention to the serious issues of sea level rise and its link to global climate change. With potential increases in sea levels ranging from a few inches to several feet by 2100, the urgency for global environmental action is more critical than ever.
Previous Initiatives
In recent years, the firm has been involved in other significant projects like ‘Vertical City – Zero-Energy City-Building’ and ‘THE LINK City-Forest’. These projects were showcased internationally and focused on sustainable living solutions for the future.
